You’re that kid who, instead of paying attention to your math teacher, sat in the back of the classroom drawing pictures in your notebook. You’re the one who was mesmerized by your dad’s camera…wow, it makes pictures! You’re the one who wrote and wrote and wrote everything that was tumbling out of her imagination in her diary.
You’re that little boy who was always hanging out in the art room and thought your teacher was the coolest guy in the universe. You’re the one who picked up that old video camera that was gathering dust on a closet shelf and became the family Spielberg at 9 years old, directing your friends in little movies everyone loved to watch. And while the other kids bought their school clothes at Kohl's, you had to design your own.
You're also the one whose parents, against their better judgment, gave you a set of drums for Christmas…and four years later you and your band won the school talent contest.
Uh-huh. THAT'S who you are. You’re the one who was always a little ”out there” compared to the other kids…the one who got ID’ed at an early age as being “creative.”
And I know who you are because I am you.
Yeah, that’s me with my mom…Easter Sunday, 1957.
I’m holding my first-ever camera, and unbeknownst to me, of course, is the fact that I’m already on a path that twenty years later would allow me to call myself a “professional photographer.”
So yes, I know you: you’ve always had that special creative gift…that mysterious “something” that excited you from a very early age, that cosmic connection to the universe that manifested itself as a talent others admired, and you’ve taken the biggest risk of your life by making your passion into your career.
Make no mistake: you haven’t chosen an easy path. But I’ve already been down that path, and having experienced both the highs and lows of creative entrepreneurship I established cr8vstrategy℠ to share my experience and hopefully make it possible for your path to be a relatively smooth one.
